Good afternoon and welcome back to another post from ToBeSecured. On yesterday's episode of Cyber Tuesdays, I discussed the topics of how antivirus software companies such as Avast can collect and share your data to 3rd party companies; In addition, it's very important to assist your grandparents are senior citizens you know with the technology and internet nowadays due to scammers. An incident occurred a while ago in which a woman from West Virginia scammed 3 million dollars out of senior citizens across 13 U.S. states and 5 countries outside the U.S. Navigate to the footer below and click the link that'll take you to my Instagram page where you can tune into this episode.
Today I want to share a list of antivirus software for you all to use for either your MACs, Windows, or Android if you're downloading via mobile phone or tablet. This list is being consolidated from multiple sources, but feel free to compare the software and make your own decision.
The purpose of Antivirus software is to protect your devices from prying eyes, scamming incidents, malware, ransomware, and other malicious acts a hacker or person may try to perform
I'll begin with the free software for all of my users who are already paying for multiple subscriptions:
Bitdefender Antivirus Free
Kaspersky (headquartered in Russia, operated in UK)
Now, there are other options, but based on my research and what's included in the free subscription, I only suggest using those two.
Now, besides the usual scans, malware protection, and other general features included in the free versions, here's a list of antivirus software that you can pay a subscription for once a year with additional features.
The software in this list also has deals for the first year you sign up, usually at the least $40 off the usual price.
McAfee
Bitdefender
NortonLifeLock
Kaspersky (Again the headquarters is in Russia)
For price comparisons and features of what's included, you can visit pcmag.com to make a decision based on the pros and cons of each software as well as reviews.
